Yang saya pikirkan pertama kali adalah sebuah kemungkinan yang menegangkan. Saya membuat dugaan bahwa itu mungkin adalah celana seorang anak laki-laki sekitar 12 tahunan yang dilepas sebelum dia berenang di sungai yang lalu hanyut dan hilang meninggalkan celananya sebagai barang bukti. Nah, naluri detektif saya menyuruh saya memfoto celana itu dari beberapa angle untuk saya laporkan ke staf taman nasional nanti ketika saya kembali ke visitor center. Saya membiarkan celana itu  tetap di tempatnya karena tak ingin merusak barang bukti di TKP.

Saya lihat siluet duri-duri di dinding tenda saya yang menghadap lokasi kemah utama di mana sebuah tenda memasang lampu petromaks yang cahayanya samar menyentuh tenda saya. Cahaya petromaks ini mengenai si landak di luar situ dan membentuk bayangan siluet di dalam sini. Saya hanya diam mengamati gerak-gerik siluet hewan duri itu.
