There are a couple of really good libraries in Bangkok, and you can get English language books copied and binded for pretty cheap there.

SET Library

The SET library is located in SET building near to the “Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre”. It provides information to host of books, periodicals, magazines, journals for a very nominal fee. The SET Library is an information center on the Thai financial and capital markets as well as related disciplines and industries. Information is available in traditional forms: books, periodicals, microfilm, audio-visual materials, and also in computerized formats: SET Information Management System (SIMS), On-line Public Access Catalog, CD-ROMs, Reuter’s news terminal.

Service Hours: Monday – Friday (8.30 a.m. – 6.00 p.m.) and Saturday (10.00 a.m. -15.00 p.m)

The Neilson Hays Library

One of its kind in Bangkok – a must see place for those having a penchant for real good books. It has a long history dating back to 1869 and is a non-profit association. The collection is huge and its customers cut across all the sections of the society.

Siam Society Library

The Siam Society’s collection of research manuscripts, books, rare books, photos, micro-film, tapes, videos, maps and traditional manuscripts on palm leaf, and other documents constitute the first non-privately owned library in Thailand.

The Siam Society library is noted for its outstanding rare books collection, most of which is related to Southeast Asia.

Lending libraries with Bangkok’s many English language publications are located at the American Univ. Alumnae Language School (AUA), The British Council, and the Neilson Hays Library. Membership is open to all residents of Bangkok.

The AUA Library has an excellent collection of books by American authors as well as Thai cultural and historical publications in English. Membership requies proof of residency (a rent receipt) your passport, and a small fee.

The British Council Library maintains a collection of books by British authors as well as magazines, VDO movies, and documentaries. Membership requires proof of residency (a rent receipt) your passport, and a small fee.

The Neilson Hays Library is supported by its membership program which is open to all. It stocks English language magazines and books, fiction and nonfiction, and often hosts lectures by guest authors.

The siam society has an english and thai language library, mostly non fiction and s.e.asian related (www.siam-society.org).
